Our History

In 1986, a room was rented in the Garfield Community Centre, Battersea, in the Borough of Wandsworth, London SW11, where an outreach programme was set up with volunteers visiting the housebound, in-patients, inmates in prison, feeding the homeless, and holding Bible studies and prayer meetings. As the need for these services grew, an Executive Committee was elected in 2000, and the name DORCAS was adopted.

Our Mission

DORCAS helps members obtain two of the greatest gifts of all: good health, and basic education and personal development. Improved self-esteem, self-motivation, and measurable benefits create tremendous advantages for our members, users, and the wider local community.
